The poem oft read clutched in her hand His thoughts and dreams she knows Tug gentle strands of memory As the family story grows. Stories from the past unfurl Oer oceans lands and time Far from her sunlit bower seat Brought close by poets rhyme. A voice of millstone grit, she hears She reads his painted words Of mists and hills and of the dales And morning song of birds. And she thinks of tales heard long ago Whose memories stir her soul Of family past, forefathers gone Of the Land and the Steel and the Coal. And the roots grow deep in that northern earth No matter, her offspring roam The stone deep voice will ever sound To call her children home.Written By Squidgeman | | GOOD MORNING | GOOD MORNINGThe sun rises and the moon falls, the black sky and crystals stars, disappear into a new blue. The birds sing to disturbyour cartoon like dreams. You wipe the grains of sandout of your porcelain eyes. And I say,"Morning".Written By PJH | | NOMINATED POEM AWARD AWAKE OH MAN BY ORCADIA | Nominated By David Miller AWAKE OH MANAwake oh man before it’s too late.Look at this world’s sad and sorry state.Consult the annuals of history, repeating patterns it seems to be.What have we learned in all of this time? Why are we making the same mistakes?Give a man power is that such a crime?Millions of dead the hate is not slaked. Each new election we hope and praythat the new folk will do as they say,not cheat us of our entrusted vote, nor fill the deep pockets of their coats. With Hope’s banner flying high displayed, the Nation’s loud voice has been relayed.Let us now chart for calmer waters, and put an end to all the slaughter.Copyright SAP 2008 All Rights ReservedWritten By Orcadia | | 3RD PLACE FREESTYLE COMPETITION WINNER | Summer Dream by Angie
Reflections of a summer dream A secret world I’d never seen Conkers and acorns on the ground Colourful toadstools big and round Gossamer fairies dancing by As angels hover in the sky Cheeky elf’s wanting to play All upon this summers day My luscious bed of softest moss A blanket of spider candy floss I’m sad to waken from this scene And leave behind my Woodland green

I've made some great friends and have some laughs, especially at the quiz night.I am not really a poet; I am more of a story teller of every day events and I just write what pops into my head. I have also had help on how to write my poetry and everyone is awesome! Long may our forum shine on.Lots of love freedom
Castallaman wrote: Without this site I would never be writing any poetry now. I'd done a bit to let off steam then stopped some years ago. Now I can express thoughts I may have however I please, and receive lots of feedback. This is all down to the efforts of Maggie & Kimi for which I am eternally grateful. Castallaman

Passage of time is measured in the depth of facial furrows,
Deepening their lines while throwing into harsh relief
The bold structure of the hidden skull.
As erosion peels away traces of fulsome youth,
Selective memory pushes to the fore,
Furnishing, refur...

Beauty hides
Behind a face
Deep inside
Pride of place
Mask adorns
Canvas bare
Inner depth
