POEM OF THE DAY - AND IT FLOWS...... By Falconwriter. I wondered lost and weary high upon the hillside, looking down frowning and wondering... the natures of freedom and spare, where the core and the boundaries circle in parallel with the universe, the battles below slashing for a fare, clanging steels of shining pride. A ringing echoes like musical spheres. sweat trickling down grooves of wear, where weathered surfaces bruised and stretched half buried, peeking through the tears until the crust burst open wide and flows into the thrusting tide. Good Luck!
THE BOND THAT BINDS
THE BONDS THAT BINDS
To sit, enjoy the sunlight’s play
Cross water mirrored skies
Amid her roses, many hued
Floats her mind, through half-closed eyes.

The poem oft read clutched in her hand
His thoughts and dreams she knows
Tug gentle strands of memory
As the family story grows.

Stories from the past unfurl
Oer oceans lands and time
Far from her sunlit bower seat
Brought close by poets rhyme.

A voice of millstone grit, she hears
She reads his painted words
Of mists and hills and of the dales
And morning song of birds.

And she thinks of tales heard long ago
Whose memories stir her soul
Of family past, forefathers gone
Of the Land and the Steel and the Coal.

And the roots grow deep in that northern earth
No matter, her offspring roam
The stone deep voice will ever sound
To call her children home.

GOOD MORNING
GOOD MORNING
The sun rises and the moon falls,
the black sky and crystals stars,
disappear into a new blue.
The birds sing to disturb
your cartoon like dreams.
You wipe the grains of sand
out of your porcelain eyes.
And I say,
"Morning".

NOMINATED POEM AWARD AWAKE OH MAN BY ORCADIA
Nominated By David Miller
AWAKE OH MAN

Awake oh man before it’s too late.
Look at this world’s sad and sorry state.
Consult the annuals of history,
repeating patterns it seems to be.

What have we learned in all of this time?
Why are we making the same mistakes?
Give a man power is that such a crime?
Millions of dead the hate is not slaked.

Each new election we hope and pray
that the new folk will do as they say,
not cheat us of our entrusted vote,
nor fill the deep pockets of their coats.

With Hope’s banner flying high displayed,
the Nation’s loud voice has been relayed.
Let us now chart for calmer waters,
and put an end to all the slaughter.

Summer Dream by Angie

Reflections of a summer dream
A secret world I’d never seen
Conkers and acorns on the ground
Colourful toadstools big and round
Gossamer fairies dancing by
As angels hover in the sky
Cheeky elf’s wanting to play
All upon this summers day
My luscious bed of softest moss
A blanket of spider candy floss
I’m sad to waken from this scene
And leave behind my
Woodland green

Fairytale Endings

A walk in the woods - a scarey thing
From childhood we are told
If you go down to the woods today
You might end up lost and cold
Like Hansel and Grethel you could meet a witch
Part of an evil covern
Lured inside with promises
And you end up in her oven!
Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf
She would have surely come a cropper
But for the timely intervention
Of the woodsman and his chopper
But please go down to the woods today
You will be sure of a big surprise
A million flowering Bluebells
Natures tonic for your eyes
Trees and shrubs and woodland paths
Open out on a sunny glade
Please go down to the woods today
The best choice you've ever made

The sun always shines on the Poetry and Friends Group. I've made some great friends and have some laughs, especially at the quiz night.I am not really a poet; I am more of a story teller of every day events and I just write what pops into my head. I have also had help on how to write my poetry and everyone is awesome! Long may our forum shine on.Lots of love freedom

Without this site I would never be writing any poetry now. I'd done a bit to let off steam then stopped some years ago. Now I can express thoughts I may have however I please, and receive lots of feedback. This is all down to the efforts of Maggie & Kimi for which I am eternally grateful. Castallaman

Steppingstones

Passage of time is measured in the depth of facial furrows,
Deepening their lines while throwing into harsh relief
The bold structure of the hidden skull.
As erosion peels away traces of fulsome youth,
Selective memory pushes to the fore,
Furnishing, refur...

looking like a masterpiece

The ground came up to meet me
As I went crashing down
Oh hell I thought, why here?
Felt a complete and utter clown

As I hit the car park floor
Left battere...

If you happened to be a giraffe
